It wasn’t hard to find a great story in Texas based shar’s super-premium, ultra-ethical trail mix. The challenge was to win over their target, a sophisticated, environmentalist, outdoor crowd, and to shine in the highly competitive US natural snacks space, zipping their ‘earth first’ credentials into every detail.

Our brand strategy paved the way, crunching all their USPs into four memorable words: ‘impossibly good trail mix’. The bear and bird brand mark is a beautiful realisation of shar’s core values of adventure and sharing experiences.

Next came packaging. The challenge of how to be food-grade and plastic-free led us to the shar ecotube. Not only plastic-free but compostable, refillable and pocket/backpack/cup holder sized with a lid designed for sharing. The ecotube perfectly connects with the shar’s active lifestyle and big-hearted spirit, and is a truly innovative solution in this category.

Within the first few months of relaunch shār was approached by REI, one of the biggest outdoor retailers in the US, who now stock them nationally.
